Sadly, like that errant parental seagull in Richard Bach’s classic tale, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, we seldom understand what it is that compels adolescents to be so obstinate in the face of all our good sense!

Surviving will mean one thing one day, something novel and new the next. The only certainty is uncertainty.

By helping teens substitute one identity for another, we fulfill three purposes:  We draw them into new, positive behaviors by offering them practical ways to experience themselves in different but powerful identities.
