People who are unemotional or unfriendly are sometimes described as cold fish. But perhaps they are getting a bad rap. Rex Colubra says he’s very close with a friendly fish he calls Elvis.

Rex and Elvis met during a dive in 2021. Elvis, unlike other fish, wasn’t afraid of Rex. “He’s completely obsessed with me. He follows me around and just stares me in the eyes, ” said Rex. He also says that he’s a jealous fish. He explained that “Elvis will literally just fight other fish if they get too close to me to keep them away. ”
Elvis has a scar on his face. Rex believes it came from a fisherman who once caught him and let him go. This thought sometimes worries him. “Of course, I would be sad if he had been caught. He’s my friend, ” said Rex.
Now, every summer, Rex visits his unusual friend. He shares videos of their friendship on tiktok, but he won’t reveal the location to protect his fish friend.
