dr shankar dayal sharma became president of india in 1992. he was a member of lok sabha from 1971 to 1977, and minister of communications from 1974 to 1977. from 1984 to 1985 he was governor of andhra pradesh, and from 1985 to 1986, governor of punjab. he was vice president of india from 1987 to 1992. he belongs to the congress (i) party. born: 1918.
