seamless system updates

Seamless System Updates is a feature that allows Android devices to update their system in the background, without interrupting the user or requiring a reboot.
This feature was introduced in Android Nougat and is supported by some devices, such as the Google Pixel series, the Essential Phone, the Nokia 7 Plus, and the LG V40 ThinQ.

Seamless System Updates work by creating two copies of the system partition, called slot A and slot B. When an update is available, the device downloads and installs it to the inactive slot, while the user continues to use the active slot. After the update is complete, the device switches to the updated slot on the next reboot. Seamless System Updates have several advantages, such as faster updates, less downtime, more reliability, and less storage space required. However, not all Android device makers have adopted this feature, as it may require changes to the bootloader, the update client, and the partition layout
