"Rather the opposite" یک عبارت اصطلاحی است که به معنای مخالف آن چیزی است که قبلاً گفته شد یا انتظار می رفت. اغلب برای بیان یک نظر متضاد یا برای تصحیح عبارت قبلی استفاده می شود. برای مثال، اگر کسی بگوید فکر می کردم خسته ای/ I thought you were tired و شما پاسخ دهید برعکس، من کاملاً پرانرژی هستم/ Rather the opposite, I’m feeling quite energized، نشان دهنده این است که شما خسته نیستید، بلکه برعکس آن است ( rather the opposite ) .
