Interpersonal metafunction: This metafunction is concerned with the relationship between the speaker and the listener, or the role of language in social interaction. It includes the expression of mood and modality, which convey the speaker's attitude towards the subject matter, as well as the use of pronouns, imperatives, and other grammatical features that signal the speaker's intentions.
Textual metafunction: This metafunction is concerned with the organization and structure of the message, or how it is presented to the listener or reader. It includes the use of cohesion devices, such as conjunctions and referencing, to signal relationships between different parts of the text.
In SFG, these three metafunctions are considered to be essential components of any piece of communication, and they work together to create meaning and achieve the speaker's communicative goals.
