I was never meant to teach. ( I did not plan to become a teacher. )
They knew as soon as they met that they were meant to be together. ( They felt a strong connection and a sense of destiny. )
I thought we could be friends, but I guess it just wasn’t meant to be. ( I hoped for a friendship, but it did not work out. )

Supposed to ( be or do something ) : This means that someone had an obligation, a duty, or a rule to follow, but they may not have done it or followed it. This is more common in British English than American English.
