His statistical interests lie in multi - level modeling, nonparametric statistics, and graphical representations of large datasets. He has co - authored over 300 papers in peer - reviewed medical journals and is on the editorial board for Hospital Pediatrics. He is an ex officio board member of Pediatric Research in Inpatient Settings ( PRIS ) and is the research mentor for faculty members in the Division of Hospital Medicine at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO.
