hubert ingraham became prime minister of the bahamas in 1992. he was first elected to the house of assembly in 1977 as a member of the progressive liberal party (plp). he was minister of housing from 1982 to 1984. in 1986 he was expelled from the plp and was re-elected to the legislature as an independent in 1987. in 1990 he was elected leader of the free national movement (fnm). born: 1947.
