gerald ford was president of the united states from 1974 to 1977. he is a member of the republican party and was a member of the house of representatives from 1949 to 1973. he was appointed by richard nixon as vice president in 1973, following the resignation of spiro agnew, and became president in 1974 when richard nixon resigned. he was the first unelected holder of these posts. born: 1913.
