نکته ای که در این کلمه باید گفت، سطح معنی این صفت را نباید در سطح خیلی خوب یا عالی ترجمه کرد. معنی آن یک سطح نرمال و کافی و خوبی دارد منظورم اینکه فرد به اندازه ی کافی مهارت دارد تا یک کاری را رضایت بخش انجام بدهد ولی لزوما عالی انجام نداده است فقط خوب از پسش بر آمده است.

اگر کسی گفت You are comptent to do your job یعنی خیلی ذوق نکن، صرفا یک حقیقت گفته که می تونی از پس کارت بربیایی. البته اگر قبلش از قیود تشدید مثل Highly استفاده کرد اینو دیگه باید ذوق کنی : )
شاید بهترین معادلی که می توان برای آن گذاشت ماهر، خوب، شایسته، رضایت بخش و قابل قبول است
اگر ماهر ترجمه می کنید یادتان باشد، آن فرد در آن کار برتر نیست بلکه خوب است.
در ضمت برای سلامت ذهنم در پزشکی از این کلمه استفاده می کنند که تقریبا معنی نرمال یا خوب را می دهد
