blaise compaor? became chairman of the popular front (fp) and president of burkina faso in a coup in 1987. he was minister of state to the presidency from 1983 to 1984 and minister of justice from 1984 to 1987. he is a member of the organization for popular democracy-labour movement (odp-mt).
